There were times when Lady Mary would wonder out on her own into the garden in the summer time when the sun was warm
and Lily's Garden was in full bloom.
She would get up earlier in the morning, bathe, and dress and go out through the servants entrance that lead out to the
path into Lily's Garden.
Lord Collin would wake up and Mary would be no where around and he knew where she would be.
Mrs. Medlock would knock on the door and say, "Excuse me Lord Collin, I have morning tea and scones for Lady Mary and
you."
"Lady Mary is not here she must be out in the garden. Please take our tea out in the garden so we may enjoy it there."
Collin said.
"Yes Lord Collin." Mrs.Medlock replied and picked up tea tray and start down the back to the entrance of the manor where
the household staff would come in and out.
Mrs. Medlock would enter Lily's Garden but Mary was out of sight she must have wandered into her favorite part of Lily's
Garden where the roses were.
"Lady Mary, I have tea for you." Mrs. Medlock would call out.
Lady Mary would appear and say, "Please place it on the table and I am sure Lord Collin knows where I am."
"Yes he said he would be to join you. It was his idea that you have tea out in the garden." Mrs. Medlock said.
"Thank you Mrs. Medlock that will be all." Mary said, and with that Mrs. Medlock would head back for the Manor.
Lady Mary in Lily's Garden in Summer of 1924 gathering flowers from the garden.
Lady Mary loved the garden as it was a gift to her given to her by her late Uncle Archie. She had fond memories of Lord
Collin, her late Uncle and she playing in the garden together.
A very minutes later Lord Collin entered the garden and called out, "Mary, Mary, where are you?"
"I am over by the roses." Mary called back.
Collin would start to walk around the fountain and enter into the rose garden and walk under the trellis of roses. He
saw Mary dressed in her simple white summer dress and white hat with a pink ribbon around it.
Collin stood there and watched Mary as she placed the fresh flowers in her basket and she turned around and said, "My
dear Collin how long have you been standing there watching me."
"I have not been here too long but I could watch you forever." Collin said walking over to Mary and kissing her.
"The garden is lovely this time of year. The roses are in bloom." Mary said.
Collin just watched Mary and finally said, "You remind me of my late mother."
"I am her niece though my father was her brother." Mary said.
"Come let us go to the bistro table and chairs and have our morning tea and scones." Mary said taking Collin arm and
walking out of the rose garden.
